Blue & Yellow Vase Version 2

Blue & Yellow Vase Version 2

Blue & Yellow Vase Version 2

Again, a happy accident.  I had made a smaller bowl, a twelve inch one with blue and yellow flowers.  After slumping it into the mould, I was not happy with the way it looked.  I slumped it again, into a different bowl mould, and was still not happy.   I have a steel cylinder shaped mould with which I shape my handkerchief vases.  I decided to place this piece onto this mould, even though I knew; a) the glass was far bigger and heavier than the fused pieces for my handkerchief vases and b) because it was heavier the glass would drag itself down onto the kiln shelf and, goodness knows what mess I would end up with!  Anyway, I decided on one last ditch attempt.  I was very nervous when I opened the kiln that morning but amazingly, it looked great.  I loved the shape as, because it was heavier, the glass had dragged itself down the steel mould instead of falling away from it and had created a shape that more practical for flower use than my other handkerchief vases.

The first attempt vase is number 3, the blue and yellow flowered one.   However, one experiment does not a range make!  I decided to try and make another one, this time with red flowers, it worked again No 4 and then with blue flowers, which worked again No 5.  So, here they are, what do you think?
